What an absolute masterclass in wasting people’s time. Thank you Roberto. I arrived on time for the viewing, which in hindsight was clearly my first mistake, because I was then left waiting around for 20 minutes as if my time had no value at all. When the viewing finally started, it turned out he had double booked it, so two groups were shown around at the same time. Very exclusive experience, naturally. Things only got better from there. When I asked who the owner was, I got no clear answer. After asking again, I was told there were “multiple owners”, which felt less like transparency and more like someone making it up as they went along. Then came the truly charming part: apparently I was expected to hand over €1,000 as a “security” payment just to make an offer, with the promise that if my offer wasn’t selected, the money would be returned. A wonderfully creative little arrangement. When I questioned why this was necessary, I got a performance worthy of an Olympic medal in mental gymnastics about how this is all somehow “standard practice”. Yes, of course it is. The next day I asked to see the property documents before committing to an offer and paying over €1,000. By sheer coincidence, I was suddenly told they already had an offer and were no longer accepting new ones. Funny how these miraculous changes seem to happen exactly when basic due diligence is requested. I also have to say, based on my experience, I find it very hard to trust the glowing review profile. I cannot prove it, obviously, but it certainly does not match the service I received. My advice: treat every interaction with extreme caution, verify absolutely everything, and ideally save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere.
